Grianstad an gheimhridh

 

Today marked the winter solstice in Ireland – I prefer the Irish term Grianstad an gheimhridh. There isn’t really a literal translation, it’s something along the lines of sun/light ending winter.

The darker days are ending and soon light will come streaming back in.

A different direction.

This wasn’t the plan. We didn’t plan to be a family of two in a four-bedroom house (with a big garden, of course) in the suburbs. Life is going i dtreo eile, in a different direction.
